This application requires the controller to:
Have a built in parameterised graphically displayed library of common shapes
Be simple to use by inexperienced machine operators
Be very reliable in potentially very harsh industrial environments
Be unusually robust as plasma generators can create a lot of electrical interference
NEE AMC4's have sealed cases preventing the ingress of the dust produced by the plasma cutting process.
Part programs are usually generated by third party software and automatically downloaded to the AMC4
controller in either ESSI or Word address (a variety of ISO GM code) format.
Some Plasma applications have the auto height control feature fitted, this maintains a constant
distance between the material and the plasma torch tip maintaining the quality and width of the cut. This feature operates using the
arc voltage derived from the plasma unit indicating the arc length. The AMC continually monitors this sensor
via a height interface unit and adjusts the Z axis position to maintain the distance. Many parameters can be used with the height interface
controlling how the height controlling axis moves suiting the application, the cutting speed, and minimising crashes.
Companies chose to use NEE AMC's because of:
The NEE AMC's system robustness and reliability
Small controller overall size, motor drives are included in the controller enclosure
NEE AMC's accept RS274D 'Word Address' and 'ESSI' job data formats
Ease of integration with their range of Plasma Cutters
Controller was not PC based
NEE Controls provide system cabling
Service support is easy as the controller comprises of an easily shipped unit
